4/ Stroll to the adjacent Flower Market and buy some flowers for your loved ones or for yourself ;)

Authentieke streekproducten ontdekken met Ghent-Authentic !

Gisteren was het weer streekproductenfestival op de Groentenmarkt ! 

Kleine en grote leveranciers uit Oost-Vlaanderen trotseerden het koude weer en verwarmden ons met heel veel lekkers, passie en vooral een grote glimlach !  Zoveel enthousiasme werkt aanstekelijk en doet ons met plezier in de pen kruipen.

Contenu

Les syndicats sont nés dans les cafés, d’abord clandestins et cachés, ils s’unifient fièrement en coopératives et salles de fêtes sous l’impulsion de meneurs. Dénués de toute idéologie au début, ils deviennent socialiste, catholique ou libéral. Et sans exception, ils sont tous nés à Gand, pas à Bruxelles, mais bien à Gand.

De stadshal van architecten Robbrecht & Daem beroert nog steeds de Gentse gemoederen. Te groot, te imposant, teveel van het goede volgens sommigen. Gedurfd, verrassend, vernieuwend volgens anderen. Wat er ook van zij, de Stadshal heeft vele dimensies die het ontdekken waard zijn. Wie denkt dat hedendaagse architectuur koud en kil moet zijn, zal verrast zijn door de warme gezelligheid van het stadscafé dat onder de hal verzonken is, van het erbijhorende zonneterras naast de 'green' en van de intimiteit van de jazz optredens die er op regelmatige tijdstippen worden georganiseerd.

De vakbonden zijn in de café’s ontstaan, eerst clandestien en verdoken, daarna opgeheven en fier, gedreven door voormannen, verenigd in coöperatieven en feestzalen. Ooit wars van elke ideologie, daarna socialistisch, katholiek of liberaal. Alle vakbonden zijn ontstaan in Gent, niet in Brussel, wel in Gent. Hoe zat dat precies, waarom uitgerekend in Gent, hoe verhielden zij zich onderling en hoe kleurden zij het dagelijkse leven in het rebelse Gent ?

For Ghent-Authentic passion and personality is key and the city is our playground and we tend to take the game very seriously ☺ To stay on top of our game, we do a lot of research, especially in winter when the season is slower and colder. 

Doing research at Ghent-Authentic is a team effort that doesn’t have to be boring as the pictures of our recent trip to the Van Eyck exhibition in the Boijmans/Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam show ☺
